What are you Hungry for?
Happy Tuesday! I'm keeping it short and sweet today (hence the gelato photo). But I have a question for you all:
What are you hungry for?
Most of us are lucky to have abundant choices when it comes to food. And living in Italy, it's a national pastime to talk about what to eat for dinner when you're still sitting down at the lunch table. There's an art in picking and preparing dishes and there's something to be said for sitting down to a meal that is exactly what you want at that moment.
There's nothing more satisfying than a roast chicken when all you really want is roast chicken, or a heaping dish of salted bitter greens when you know your body is craving veggies. There's also unparalleled joy in eating cake for breakfast if that's what you really want (I do) and having an afternoon gelato (or two) when the weather gets hot. Sure, there are evenings when I throw together an "everything in the fridge" salad to satisfy my hunger, but it's rarely what I really want.
For me, eating isn't about not being hungry, it's about enjoying something I love. In coaching, we spend a lot of time in this process. Many people who join me for coaching come to sessions with what they don't want: stress, frustration, sensations of being stuck, blocked, bored, or unmotivated. Sometimes they have an end goal in mind: they want to find a more fulfilling career, take better care of themselves, strengthen their personal relationships. In general, they come hungry.
So how do you know what you really want?
Usually, I start with my gut. But there are many other considerations: time of day, availability, what's good for me, what's good for those that might be around my table, and how about what's good for the earth?
As always, curious to hear your thoughts. If you're hungry, come say hi. Let's figure out what you really want on your plate and how to get it. (If your answer is gelato, I have some hot tips for you!)
Sending sunshine,
Henna
