Happy Tuesday!

Now that the pressure of the first Monday of a new year is off, I decided to reach out and say hi! Welcome to 2021 and hello from me, Henna, of Your Horizon Coaching. I'm writing to you live from Berlin, Germany: a far cry from my home in sunny Sicily. The current clouds and cold are more reminiscent of my native Nantucket...a little island off the coast of Massachusetts.

I don’t know if this new year feels squeaky clean for you after such a tumultuous 2020. For me, there’s still the promise of new adventures, challenges, and growth, but also a heavier acceptance that planning ahead isn’t something we can take for granted. And that is tough for me. A lot of my work as an educator and Program Director revolves around organizing, scheduling, planning, and setting expectations. All of a sudden, that is off the board. Italy is still jumping through various phases of lockdown, Europe has tightened internal movements within its borders, and I'm also bouncing around as I evaluate new changes in my life.

With the confusion and inconsistency in the outside world, I spent a lot of 2020 in my inside world. My coaching practice and training gave me a lot of tools to help me reflect, respond, and redirect. I started focusing my energy on myself. What were my emotional needs? What were my physical needs? Who did I want to show up as? For my colleagues, for my friends, for my family, for my partner. What was in my control when the world felt out of control?
